Install OwneetOS
A USB stick of 4 GB or more and a controller are all you need.
Check your PC
A 64-bit processor, UEFI firmware, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of disk: most PCs from the last ten years. Graphics with Vulkan get the full experience.
Download OwneetOS
One file, the ISO. Coming with the first release.
Write it to a USB stick
With balenaEtcher or Ventoy, from Windows, macOS or Linux. Everything on the stick is erased.
Start the PC from the stick
Turn the PC on and open its boot menu (often F12, F11, F8 or Esc), then choose the USB stick. If the PC is set to “Legacy” or “CSM”, switch it to UEFI, and turn Secure Boot off, in its firmware settings.
Install with the controller
Choose “Use the whole disk”: everything on that disk is erased, Windows included. Installing next to Windows comes later.
Play
At the first start the controller pairs by itself; choose the language, the network and the time zone, and you are home.
Some Windows games with anti-cheat (e.g. Battlefield 6, Valorant) need Secure Boot: they do not run on OwneetOS.
